Urine Diversion with Removal Bin

Operational Principles: The single chamber Urine Diversion sanitation system is a dry, on-site sanitation system consisting of a sub-structure with a single chamber and fitted with a removable bin. The removable bin is completely water tight and does not allow any water into the dried faecal matter.Waste drops into the removable bin where organic material decomposes and the liquids are diverted into a separately constructed soak away. The bin takes approximately 3-4 months to fill (depending on household size). The bin is further fitted with a handle, to reduce any risk of physical contact, and wheels for ease of removal. Once the bin is filled, it is simply removed from the rear of the chamber. After being emptied and cleaned, the bin is replaced in its original position for further use.
